Central Jakarta Builds Embankments on Ciliwung Tributary

The Central Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency is building the Ciliwung Tributary embankment in Mangga Dua Selatan, Sawah Besar.

SDA Sub-agency Head, Mustajab said the embankment construction is conducted to follow up on the recess of members of the Jakarta DPRD because the location is prone to flooding.

"We build embankments on both sides. The first side in RW 02 is 470 meters long and the second side is in RW 08 with 300 meters long," he expressed, Thursday (1/19).

He explained that the embankment at the site was built with 2.5 meters wide and 2.8 meters high from the bottom to the top. The construction was done manually by involving a team from the city and sub-district levels.

"We have deployed 35 workers to the location," he explained.

Sawah Besar SDA Executing Head, Yusuf Sumardani added before the construction, his team first made a sheet pile by dismantling the semi-permanent building on site.

"This work has been ongoing since January 17 and is targeted to be completed in mid-2023," he stated.
